Madera County E-BIZ
Greetings,
I would like to wish all of our E-Biz readers a Very Happy New Year. May 2010 be one of an improving business climate and larger profits. I truly think the worst is behind us and we can look for some positive signs in the months ahead. Although the past year was filled with monumental challenges, most of us have survived and are tougher, leaner and what I like to think smarter. The Madera County Economic Development Commission will continue our tireless work of trying to create the best business climate possible for all companies that call Madera County home. We will remain committed to marketing our county to new business as the “Perfect Location” and more importantly will be reaching out to those already here to make sure they grow and prosper. Please know if you have any business related issue that you need to make MCEDC your first call. Our promise to you is that we will do all we can to answer your question or assist in finding a solution to a problem. We are here to serve all businesses, no matter how large or small. In closing I hope that you find E-Biz to be informative reading and hope that you will feel free to send us your comments or suggestions, whether it be a news item you would like covered or an idea on how we can communicate with our subscribers more efficiently. I thank you for your continued support and may 2010 be your best year yet!
Respectfully,
Bobby Kahn
Executive Director

Fragile licensed child care supply threatened by continued economic downturn
Community Action Partnership of Madera County
- 4,136 is the total number of licensed child care slots in Madera County
- 24% of Madera County Children 0-13 with parents in the labor force for whom a licensed child care slot is available.
The need for affordable, quality child care continues to surpass the supply, according to the 2009 California Child Care Portfolio released online www.rrnetwork.org by the California Child Care Resource & Referral Network. Reviewing the data, Assemblywoman Julia Brownley, 14th District, Chair of Assembly Education Committee commented, “As California struggles to rebound from the economic downturn, and make education a top priority, the data in this report makes it clear that addressing access to quality, licensed child care is essential as a foundation for children’s early learning experience, and for supporting working families.”
